Manju vows controversy-free campaign in Khulna-2

KHULNA, Nov 23, 2025 (BNP) - BNP-nominated candidate for Khulna-2 and former parliamentarian Nazrul Islam Manju today said he will not include any controversial individuals in his upcoming election campaign.

Speaking at a meeting with journalists at Khulna Press Club, Manju said he plans to begin vigorous election activities soon, with a united BNP team in the city.

"This year's national elections are highly challenging. We expect a participatory poll. Over the past 16 years, many have sacrificed for the nation. The youth dream of a new Bangladesh, and Tarique Rahman will soon deliver a message as part of plans to rebuild the country," he said.

Manju also emphasized that candidate selection this time was free from lobbying or business interests. "Tarique Rahman carefully considered grassroots opinions and finalised nominations based on three criteria," he noted.

On party dynamics, he added, "BNP is a broad platform with diverse opinions, but leaders and activists will work together under the city BNP leadership for the 'sheaf of paddy' symbol. Campaign activities will be conducted in a coordinated manner."

Reflecting on his political career, Manju said, "In my 37 years in politics, I have maintained a clean record and always stood beside the people as a committed politician." 

He pledged development initiatives in Khulna, including reopening closed mills, upgrading Mongla Port, promoting tourism, and improving roads, through transparent and corruption-free processes.

Manju reiterated that no controversial figures would be allowed at the forefront of his campaign and that factional debates on social media have been discouraged.

The meeting was attended by former Khulna mayor and BNP leader Moniruzzaman Moni, senior BNP leaders Sekendar Zafrullah Khan Satchu, former councilor Mahbub Kaiser, ex-student leader Asaduzzaman Murad, and several other senior party members.
