Seeds distributed among 3,050 marginal farmers in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS) - The government today distributed Boro (Hybrid) rice seeds among 3,050 small and marginal farmers in Chitalmari upazila of the district under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Assistance Programme for the 2025-26 financial year (FY26).

The initiative aims to boost Boro rice production during the ongoing Rabi season.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and President of the Upazila Agricultural Rehabilitation Implementation Committee Md Sajjad Hossain inaugurated the programme at 12 noon on the premises of the Upazila Agriculture Office.

Under the programme, each farmer received 2 kilograms of SL-8H hybrid Boro rice seeds, covering all seven unions of Chitalmari upazila.

Upazila Agricultural Extension Officer Md Habibur Rahman, Upazila Livestock Officer Ahmed Iqbal, LGED Engineer Md Saddam Hossain, Women Affairs Officer Md Hafizur Rahman, Cooperative Officer Molla Saiful Islam, ICT Officer Sheikh Mohammad, Palli Sanchay Bank Manager Gautam Sarkar, acting Election Officer Ruman Hussain, Statistics Officer Johnny Sarkar, Jute Department Officer Sathi Halder and acting Social Service Officer Ranjan Halder, among others, were present on the occasion.

Upazila Agriculture Officer and Member Secretary of the Implementation Committee Md Sifat Al Maruf said the seeds were distributed among small and marginal farmers across all seven unions of the upazila.

He said the government's support would help increase agricultural productivity and strengthen food security in the region.
