BANDARBAN, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - The Alikadam upazila administration on Tuesday imposed fines totaling Taka 9 lakh and seized around 7,000 cubic feet of wood during a raid on three illegally operating brick kilns in Alikadam upazila of the district.

The mobile court was conducted in the morning by the Alikadam upazila administration following allegations of environmental destruction and violation of High Court directives.

According to local and administrative sources, the brick kilns—ABM in the Chara Battal area, FBM in South-East Palang Para, and UBM in the Amtoli area—were established without any legal approval. The kilns were allegedly using forest wood as fuel and indiscriminately cutting nearby hills to produce bricks, posing a serious threat to the local environment.

During the operation, the owners of the three kilns were fined Taka 3 lakh each for environmental damage, amounting to a total of Taka 9 lakh. In addition, approximately 7,000 cubic feet of wood stored for use as fuel was seized.

Alikadam Upazila Nirbahi Officer Manjurul Alam confirmed the operation and said legal action had been taken against the illegally operating kilns. He added that such drives would continue in the future to protect the environment and prevent unlawful activities.
