3 candidates withdraw nomination papers in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - Three candidates from two constituencies in Rajshahi have withdrawn their nomination papers today.

They submitted their withdrawal applications at the office of the Rajshahi Returning Officer on the last day for withdrawal, confirmed the Election Cell of the Returning Officer's office.

Among the three who withdrew is Sultanul Islam Tarek, a rebel BNP candidate from Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanore). He submitted his withdrawal application at the very last moment on the final day.

In Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency, Md. Waheduzzaman, an LDP candidate who was part of the Jamaat-led alliance, also withdrew his nomination on the last day. The Jamaat-e-Islami candidate in this constituency is Mohammad Jahangir.

Islami Andolon Bangladesh is not part of any electoral alliance. However, the party's candidate for Rajshahi-2 (Sadar), Muhammad Fazlul Karim, withdrew his nomination on the final day.

No other candidates in Rajshahi have withdrawn their nomination papers. BNP and Jamaat candidates remain in all six Rajshahi constituencies.

In the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, a total of 32 candidates will contest across Rajshahi's six parliamentary constituencies.
