Four illegal brick kilns fined Tk 9 lakh in Sherpur

SHERPUR, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - The district administration has taken action against four illegal brick kilns in Sherpur, imposing fines totaling Taka 9 lakh and ordering the kilns to cease operations. 

In addition, the raw bricks from these kilns were destroyed, and their electricity connections were disconnected.

The day-long drive in Sadar upazila was conducted today by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Nilufa Yasmin Mitu. 

The district environment office, led by Inspector Sushil Kumar Das, prosecuted the cases in a mobile court.

According to mobile court sources, the fines were imposed as follows: ZHB Bricks of Damdama, Kaliganj area, Sadar Upazila - Taka 2,50,000, MSB Bricks of the same area - Taka 2,50,000, SF Bricks of Charsherpur - Taka 2,00,000 and MM Bricks of Charsherpur - Taka 2,00,000 lakh. 

Members of the army, police, fire service, and representatives of the Power Development Board were present during the operation.

This latest action brings the total number of illegal brick kilns fined in Sherpur to 22, with cumulative fines reaching Taka 91 lakh. All of these kilns have been ordered to halt operations.
