Dua mehfil for Begum Khaleda Zia held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - A dua (prayer) mehfil was held at the Water Tank area of New Engineer Para in the city on Tuesday afternoon to pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The Ward No 20 unit of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP organised the event participated by the leaders and workers of the party and its affiliated organisations and common people of the area.
 
BNP-nominated MP candidate for Rangpur-3 constituency and convener of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP, Md Shamsuzzaman Samu addressed the event as the chief guest.
 
Joint General Secretary of Spain BNP and New Engineer Para's glorious son Zakirul Islam Zakir, Metropolitan BNP member and senior journalist Alhaj Salequzzaman Salek, former president of District Chhatra Dal Moniruzzaman Hizbul, convener of District Swechchasebak Dal Al Imran Sujan, member-secretary Zakaria Islam Jim, District Jubo Dal leader Abdul Halim, joint convener of Metropolitan Swechchasebak Dal Noman Hasan, among others, spoke at the event. 
 
Later, prayers were offered for the souls of all the deceased leaders of Rangpur, including BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and their youngest son Arafat Rahman Koko. 
 
The prayers were led by Moulana Nur Islam, Khatib of New Engineer Para Jam-e Mosque. 
 
Earlier, similar prayers were held in Wards 15, 31, 13 and 12 of Rangpur city on Monday.
