TANGAIL, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) - A discussion meeting and doa mahfil were held in Tangail on Sunday afternoon seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The programme was organised by the district Branch of Shaheed Zia Smriti Sangsad at the Shaheed Minar premises in the district town.

BNP Publicity Secretary and BNP-nominated candidate for Tangail-5 (Sadar) constituency Sultan Salauddin Tuku attended the doa mahfil as the chief guest.

Shaheed Zia Smriti Sangsad District Branch President Aminur Rahman Joni presided over the discussion  while General Secretary Hridoy Sarkar Apu conducted it.

Among others, Shaheed Zia Smriti Sangsad Central Committee President Rezaul Kabir Dipu, former district BNP member secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu, Sadar Upazila BNP President Azgar Ali and Shaheed Zia Smriti Sangsad Senior Joint Secretary Rafiqul Islam Swapan spoke at the meeting.

Following the discussion, special prayers were offered seeking forgiveness and eternal peace for the departed soul of Begum Khaleda Zia.
