Five MP Candidates Withdraw from Khulna Race Ahead of Polls

KHULNA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - Five candidates contesting from six 
parliamentary constituencies in Khulna withdrew their nomination papers on 
the last day of withdrawal on Tuesday for the upcoming 13th National 
Parliamentary Elections.

Among those who withdrew, two were from Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis, two from 
Khelafat Majlis and one from Jamaat-e-Islami. 

With the withdrawals, the total number of valid candidates in Khulna's six 
constituencies now stands at 38, A.S.M. Jamshed Khondker, Returning Officer 
and Deputy Commissioner of Khulna confirmed the information.

The candidates who withdrew are - Firozul Islam (Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis) 
from Khulna-1, Abdul Qaiyum Jamaddar (Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis) from 
Khulna-5, Advocate Shahidul Islam (Khelafat Majlis) from Khulna-2, F.M. 
Harunur Rashid (Khelafat Majlis) from Khulna-3, and Mohammad Kabirul Islam 
(Jamaat-e-Islami) from Khulna-4.
