Mobile court raids illegal brick kilns in Narsingdi, fines Tk 2 lakh

NARSINGDI, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court conducted a drive against illegal brick kilns in Palash upazila of the district today, imposing fines amounting to Tk 200,000 on two establishments.

The drive was carried out around 4:30 pm in the Kajair area of Danga Union under Palash upazila. The operation was led by Palash Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Rakin Mashrur Khan.

During the drive, Messrs Combined Brick Field in Kajair was fined Tk 100,000 and its operations were shut down. Another kiln, Messrs Bondhu Brick Field, was also fined Tk 100,000 and ordered to cease operations.

However, no action was taken against Messrs JMB Brick Field located at Islambara in Palash, as the High Court Division has granted a six-month stay order following a writ petition.

Officials from the district environment department and police personnel were present during the raid.

The officers said such drives against illegal brick kilns would continue in different parts of the district to protect the environment.
