Preparations completed for JS polls in Barguna

BARGUNA, Feb 11, 2026 (BSS) - All preparations have been completed for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections and referendum in the district, election officials confirmed today.

Assistant Returning Officers and Presiding Officers received ballot papers and other voting materials from the respective Upazila Election Offices at noon. Polling officials are scheduled to take position at their designated polling stations this night.

To ensure law and order, 16 to 17 security personnel, including members of the police and Ansar force, will be deployed at each polling center. Additionally, members of the Navy, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Ansar Battalion will operate as striking forces. 

Executive Magistrates and other district administration officials will remain on duty in the field throughout the voting process.

Control rooms have been set up at the offices of the District Returning Officer (District Administrator) and the Assistant Returning Officers (Upazila Executive Officers) to monitor the election proceedings.

District Election Officer Md. Atiqul Islam said Barguna district comprises two parliamentary constituencies across six upazilas, with a total of 312 polling centers. There are 190 polling centers in Barguna-1 constituency and 122 in Barguna-2.

The district has a total of 857,203 registered voters. Of them, 418,770 are men, 427,130 are women, 15 are third-gender voters and 11,258 are postal voters.

The 109th constituency (Barguna-1), comprising Barguna Sadar, Amtoli and Taltoli upazilas, has 519,459 voters - including 254,585 men, 258,576 women and 11 transgender voters.

The 110th constituency (Barguna-2), consisting of Betagi, Bamna and Patharghata upazilas, has 337,744 voters, including 164,185 men, 168,554 women, four transgender voters and 501 postal voters.

Authorities expressed hope that the elections will be conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
