
NARSINGDI, March 01, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today granted an eight-day remand for seven accused, including the prime accused Nur Mohammad, alias Nura, in a case filed over the rape and murder of a teenage girl.
Md Mehedi Hasan, Senior Judicial Magistrate of the Narsingdi District Judge Court, issued the order this morning, confirmed Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Omar Kaiyum of Madhabdi Police Station.
SI Omar Kaiyum, also the investigation officer of the case, said, "We sought a 10-day remand. However, the court granted an eight-day remand for seven accused, including the prime accused Nur Mohammad alias Nura."
"No lawyer appeared on behalf of the accused," he added.
According to the case, on February 25 at about 9:30pm, the accused allegedly intercepted the victim and her father at Boroitala in Kotowalirchar and forcibly took her away.
The following morning, police recovered her body from a field between Bilpara and Darikandi in Mahishashura Union under Madhabdi Police Station of the Sadar upazila.
On Thursday night, the victim's mother filed a case with Madhabdi Police Station, naming nine accused. Police arrested seven of the named accused following a three-day operation.
According to police, the seven arrestees are Nur Mohammad alias Nura (28), Ebadullah (38), Hazrat Ali (40), Gaffar (37), Ahmed Ali alias Ahmed Dewan (65), Md Imran Dewan (32), and Md Ayub (30). All are residents of Mahishashura Union.
