Two eateries fined Tk 2,50,000 in Gaibandha

RANGPUR, Mar 1, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined two eateries a total of Tk 2,50,000 for violating consumer rights and food safety regulations in Gaibandha district.

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection conducted the court at the Bazaar area under Sadar Police Station on Saturday afternoon, said a press release. 

Executive Magistrate Md Sabbir Ahmed led the drive, while Md Milan Mia, Assistant Director of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and other officials were present. 

Noorani Foods was fined Tk 50,000 and New Bismillah Foods Tk 2,00,000 for mixing prohibited substances in food under Section 42 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

"RAB-13's intelligence activities and ongoing operations will continue to implement a zero-tolerance policy against crimes such as illegal hoarding, overpricing, and food adulteration," the release added.
