Teenager killed in Jhenaidah road accident

JHENAIDAH, March 2, 2026 (BSS) - A teenage boy was killed and another injured 
in a tragic road accident on the Jhenaidah-Jashore highway in Sadar upazila 
here on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Hussain, 14, son of Shahin Rahman of 
Koyergachi village of the upazila. He was a student in the Hefz department at 
a madrasa in Jashore.

The accident occurred in Khadikhali Nrisinghapur area under Maharajpur union 
when Hussain was cycling to deliver breakfast to his father, a labourer 
working at a brick kiln in the area.

According to Jhenaidah Fire Service Chief Abdur Razzak, a truck travelling 
from Kaliganj to Jhenaidah hit the bicycle from behind as it reached the 
area. Hussain fell from the bicycle and was crushed under the wheels of the 
running truck, leaving him dead on the spot.

Another boy, Prant, 12, who was riding on the bicycle with Hussain, fell to 
the side of the road and sustained injuries. He was given first aid locally.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barobazar Highway Police Station Alamgir Kabir said 
the victim's uncle filed a complaint regarding the incident. A case has been 
registered and forwarded to Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station for further legal 
proceedings, he added.
