Lightning strike kills two farmers in Naogaon

RAJSHAHI, March 12, 2026 (BSS)- Two farmers were killed and another one injured by lightning strikes in Naogaon. The incidents occurred on Thursday morning (March 12) in Dhamoirhat and Manda upazilas.

The deceased were Jalal Uddin, son of Mokhlesur Rahman from Bhabir Mor area of Dhamoirhat upazila, and Pintu, son of Moslem from the area adjacent to the Eidgah in Chakrampur Madhyapara of Manda upazila.
 
According to local sources, farmer Jalal Uddin went to pick cucumbers from a nearby wetland beside his house during rainfall. At that time, he was struck by lightning and died on the spot. After receiving the news, family members brought his body home.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhamoirhat Police Station, Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, said that police visited the scene after receiving the information.
 
Meanwhile, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manda Police Station, Masud Rana, said that Pintu died instantly after being struck by lightning while working in a paddy field near his house. 

Another person who was with him was seriously injured. Local residents rescued the injured person and admitted him to the Upazila Health Complex.
