BAGERHAT, March 16, 2026 (BSS) - Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain has been appointed as the Bagerhat District Council Administrator.
District Council Branch, Local Government Division, Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives issued a notification in this regard on Sunday,
Zakir Hossain was born in Sayera village in Shatgumbaj Union of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. He obtained Barrister at Law from the famous Lincoln’s Inn.
He has also been serving as a member of Bagerhat District BNP since 2017.
In 2015, he was listed as an advocate in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain was recognized as a Senior Advocate in 2024.
When the gazette was published reducing the 4 parliamentary seats of Bagerhat to 3, the people of the district erupted in protest. After a massive legal battle, the Supreme Court directed the gazette to be published within 24 hours by arranging the 4 seats of Bagerhat.
As a senior lawyer of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, he resolved the matter as a very skilled jurist.
Barrister Zakir Hossain successfully handled the false money laundering case filed against BNP Chairman and current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Expressing deep gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for being appointed as the administrator, he said, “I will work relentlessly to achieve development progress together with the people of Bagerhat”.
