RAJSHAHI, Mar 17, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered a large quantity of cocktail-type explosives and local weapons abandoned in the Chandrima Police Station area of the city in the early hours of today.

Acting on a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-5 conducted a drive in a lemon garden located on the northern side of Railway Field (Rail-math) at around 12:20 am.

During the drive, the team recovered two abandoned plastic sacks. Suspecting the presence of explosive materials, the RAB-5 Bomb Disposal Unit was called to the scene.

Upon inspection, the Bomb Disposal Unit recovered 21 cocktail-like explosive objects from the sacks. In addition, another white plastic sack was found to contain local weapons, including one machete and three knives of different sizes.

RAB suspects that the items were stockpiled by miscreants with the intention of destabilizing the country ahead of the upcoming Eid.

The recovered explosives and weapons have been handed over to Chandrima Police Station under Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
