RAJSHAHI, March 17, 2026 (BSS)- To ensure a festive yet safe celebration of the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has taken
extensive security measures across the city.

The police administration said that various preparations have been made to ensure overall security at homes, banks, insurance institutions, shopping
centers, and other important establishments.

RMP stated that many people leave their homes during Eid, increasing the risk of theft and robbery in vacant houses and institutions.

In this situation, citizens have been urged to remain alert and cautious. The police have also sought the overall cooperation of city residents to ensure a
safe and smooth celebration of Eid.

According to RMP, security personnel assigned to homes, apartments, banks,
insurance institutions, and shopping malls must strengthen their duties and
maintain 24-hour surveillance.

Authorities have advised against granting leave to all officers and staff at
once, recommending that a portion remain on duty to ensure continuous
security monitoring.

Before leaving homes or institutions, residents are advised to properly lock
doors and windows, use multiple locks if necessary, repair weak points, and
install and keep sufficient CCTV cameras operational. The use of auto-lock
systems and security alarm locks on main doors has also been recommended.

It has further been emphasized that homes and premises should be well-lit at
night, valuables should be kept in safe places or entrusted to close
relatives, and bank lockers may be used if needed.

Residents are also encouraged to inform neighbors before leaving and maintain
regular communication.

Tenants have been advised to inform landlords in advance about their absence.
Security personnel have been instructed to remain vigilant to ensure that no
one enters homes or institutions without permission.

Additionally, before leaving, residents must ensure that electricity
connections, gas stoves, water taps, and other utilities are properly turned
off.

Instructions have also been given to keep garages secure and trim excessive
branches of nearby trees to prevent criminals from using them for access.

People are requested to immediately inform the nearest police station or
outpost if any suspicious individuals are noticed in neighborhoods or in
front of homes.

They are also urged to promptly notify the police in case of any untoward
incident or potential threat.

For emergency police assistance, citizens can contact the RMP hotline at
01320063999 or the control room at 01320063998. They can also reach the
national emergency service by dialing 999.

These directives were issued in a general notice signed by Rajshahi
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman on Monday.
