Two tourist bikers killed in Cox’s Bazar road accident

COX’S BAZAR, Mar 26, 2026 (BSS)- Two tourists were killed in a road accident in Baniarchhara area under Chakaria upazila of the district on Thursday early morning.

The deceased were identified as Shariful Islam, 30, son of Shahid Bhuiyan and Raisul Islam, 30, son of Oliul Islam. Both hailed from Atipara area under Uttarkhan Police Station in Dhaka.

The accident occurred around 4:30 am on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.

According to police, the victims were travelling to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka on a motorcycle, accompanied by a group of friends riding separate bikes. A passenger bus of Lal-Sabuj Paribahan coming from Chattogram reportedly rammed into a truck and the motorcycle from behind, leaving two bikers critically injured. 

The injured were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Chiringa Highway thana Ariful Amin said the bus driver and his assistant fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Police are taking necessary action in this regard, the OC said.
