Disabled people get assistive devices in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 2, 2026 (BSS) – Assistive devices were distributed among  18 disabled people in a function held at the Gangachara Upazila Parishad premises of the district to increase their mobility and communication capabilities this  afternoon.
 
The assistive devices included four wheelchairs, 11 hearing aids, one pair of axillaries crutches, one elbow crutch and two four-pole sticks. 
 
In addition, packets of four types of vegetable seeds were also distributed among the beneficiaries. 
 
Gram Bikash Kendra (GBK), an NGO, in collaboration with the European Union and Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) distributed the assistance under the “Pathways to Prosperity for Extremely Poor People (PPEPP) project. 
 
Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jasmine Akhter distributed the assistive devices among 18 physically challenged people of Gangachara Sadar and Alambiditor Unions of Gangachara upazila in the function as the chief guest.
 
Gangachara  Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md Rubel Hussaine, Upazila Cooperative Officer Mohammad Aftabuzzaman, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Sajibul Karim, Project Coordinator Md Shamsur Rahman, Programme Officer (Livelihood) Md Asaduzzaman attended the programme as special guests.
 
The assistive devices have been distributed among a total of 18 disabled people from Gangachara and Alambiditor Unions of the upazila to increase their mobility and communication abilities. 
 
Addressing the occasion, the chief guest said that such initiatives will play an important role in making the disabled people self-reliant and will help improve their quality of life.
