7,360-kg of banned polythene seized in Narayanganj

DHAKA, April 5, 2026 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has seized 7,360 
kilograms of banned polythene worth approximately Taka 88 lakh here.

The BCG Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon disclosed the 
information this afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station 
Pagla at around 5:00 am on Friday in the Kanchpur Bridge adjacent area of 
Narayanganj, he said.

During the operation, a suspicious covered van was searched, leading to the 
seizure of 7,360 kilograms of illegal polythene.

Later, the seized banned polythene was handed over to representatives of the 
Department of Environment (DoE) in Narayanganj for further legal action.

The Coast Guard Media Officer added that such operations will continue in the 
future to protect the environment.
