KHAGRACHHARI, April 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Army today provided financial assistance to organizers from various hill communities in the district on the occasion of the traditional Maha Biju, Sangrai, and Baishakhi festivals.

This assistance was distributed under the initiative of the Lakshichhari Zone, which operates under the Guimara Region.

The financial support was given to different organizing committees in the Barmachhari and Dulyatali areas of Lakshichhari Upazila in the district, aiming to ensure the smooth arrangement of rallies and cultural programmes.

This initiative, centered around the celebration of Maha Biju, Sangrai, and Baishakhi—some of the major social festivals of the hill communities—has received a strong positive response from local residents.

Zone Commander of the Lakshichhari Zone of the Bangladesh Army attended the programme as the chief guest.

Members of the organizing committees and local dignitaries were also present.

Speakers said that Maha Biju and Sangrai are important traditional festivals of the Chakma and Marma communities, symbolizing mutual harmony, brotherhood, and cultural unity. Such support from the Bangladesh Army will make the celebrations more vibrant, they added.
