
KHULNA, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Nazrul Islam Manju today said a prosperous and inclusive city would be developed through the participation of people from all religions and communities.
"We want to transform Khulna into a beautiful city by undertaking necessary development initiatives wherever needed. For this, cooperation from all, regardless of religion or caste, is essential," he said.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the Matua Mahasammelan-2026 at the premises of Sri Sri Hari Mandir and Guruchand Student Hostel at Gollamari in the city on Friday evening.
The programme was organised by the Khulna Divisional Sri Sri Hari Mandir Management Committee and Guruchand Student Hostel.
Acting Assistant High Commissioner of India in Khulna Chandrajit Mukherjee attended the event as the chief guest.
Manju said the journey initiated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman under the slogan "Bangladesh First" aims to build a safe, humane, liberal and democratic country by overcoming longstanding deprivation.
"We want to further strengthen communal harmony and build mutual trust and confidence so that all can live together peacefully in the Bangladesh of tomorrow," he added.
He also assured that all possible support would be extended to resolve existing problems of the temple.
Presided over by President of the temple management committee Dr Dulal Krishna Roy, the event was also attended by International Hari-Guruchand Matua Mission President Supati Thakur Shibu and International Matua Prachar Mission President Sampad Thakur of Orakandi, who offered their blessings.
Earlier in the morning, the KCC administrator visited a fire-affected area on BIDC Road in the city and distributed financial assistance from his personal fund among the affected families.
