
HABIGANJ, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large quantity of smuggled Indian goods, worth around Taka 70 lakh, in separate operations in Habiganj and Moulvibazar districts.
According to a press release issued by the BGB-55 Battalion, signed by Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Tanzilur Rahman, the drive was conducted based on confidential intelligence.
In Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj, a BGB team took position at Muktijoddha Chattar and stopped a suspected truck late Friday night. After searching the vehicle, officials recovered a significant quantity of Indian fuchka concealed beneath sacks of chicken feed. The goods were seized on the spot.
Earlier, around 3:00 pm, BGB team conducted another drive in the same area and recovered a large quantity of Indian cumin seeds.
In a separate operation in Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar district, a patrol team from Kakmarachhara Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a raid in the Jamburachhara border area around 10:00 am and seized s huge quantity of illegal Indian mobile displays.
The total estimated value of the seized goods is around Taka 70 lakh. The confiscated items were handed over to the relevant customs authorities.
BGB officials said that strict vigilance is being maintained along the border to prevent smuggling. They also confirmed that intelligence surveillance in border areas has been further strengthened to curb illegal activities.
