Two children die with measles-like symptoms in Khulna region

KHULNA, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - Two children have died with measles-like symptoms in the Khulna region over the past 24 hours-one in Khulna district and another in Kushtia.

During the same period, 62 more children were admitted to different hospitals of the region, according to Md Mujibur Rahman, acting Director of the Khulna Divisional Health Office, on Friday.

Data from the divisional health office shows that a total of 752 children have been hospitalized with measles-like symptoms across the region's 10 districts from March 15 to Friday afternoon.

So far, 51 cases of measles have been officially confirmed, while nine deaths have been reported in the southwestern region.

Kushtia is currently the worst-affected district, with 350 children receiving treatment for measles-like symptoms. Other affected districts include -- Jashore (92 cases), Khulna (78 cases), Bagerhat (30 cases), Chuadanga (12 cases), Jhenaidah (33cases), Magura (52 cases), Meherpur (30 cases), Narail (23 cases), and Satkhira (52 cases).
