
NETRAKONA, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - A district-wide “Digital Fuel Card” programme was officially inaugurated in the district on Monday, aiming to ensure a smooth, transparent, and well-regulated distribution of fuel amid the current global situation.
Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman inaugurated the initiative at 11:00 am at his office conference room.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner said the introduction of digital fuel cards would help streamline the supply chain, prevent irregularities, and bring greater accountability to fuel distribution across the district.
Under the new system, all motor vehicle drivers and owners in Netrakona are required to apply online to obtain their digital fuel cards. Authorities have set April 17 as the deadline for collecting the cards.
From April 18 onwards, no fuel will be dispensed at any filling station in the district without the presentation of a valid digital fuel card, according to district administration sources.
Officials have urged all concerned drivers and vehicle owners to complete their applications promptly to avoid disruptions.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Police Superintendent Md. Tariqul Islam, Deputy Director of Local Government and Netrokona Municipal Administrator Md. Ariful Islam Sardar, Additional District Magistrate Wahiduzzaman, along with senior district officials and members of the local media.
