
RAJSHAHI, April 18, 2026 (BSS) – Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) today held an Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) surveillance orientation session ahead of the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026, scheduled to begin on April 20.
The programme was held at the City Hall Room of Nagar Bhaban, with RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton attending as chief guest.
Doctors and nurses from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and private hospitals participated in the orientation.
In his remarks as chief guest, Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said, “The current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has prioritized the health sector. The Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign will be held nationwide starting April 20.”
“You must play your role to properly implement this vaccination campaign. It must be ensured that not a single child remains outside this campaign. I hope you will make this campaign successful by utilizing your experience,” he told the participants.
He also said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working to implement the plan he has adopted to build a new Bangladesh. He has given me the opportunity to serve the people of Rajshahi city.
In line with the expectations of city residents, Rajshahi city will be developed into an even cleaner, healthier, ideal, and peaceful city. “I seek the cooperation of city residents in this work,” he added.
He further added, “Alongside civic services, RCC is also working in healthcare. Immediately after I took charge, nearly 80,000 public awareness leaflets were prepared and distributed to prevent measles. I hope that with everyone’s cooperation, we will be able to keep measles under control in Rajshahi city.”
RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim presided over the programme. RCC Chief Health Officer Dr F A M Anjuman Ara Begum also spoke on the occasion.
World Health Organization (WHO) Surveillance Immunization medical officer Dr Farhana was also present.
The session aimed to strengthen capacity in detecting, reporting and managing adverse events following immunization to ensure vaccine safety and maintain public confidence.
