BCG seizes illegal nets worth Tk 312 Cr in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 20, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG), in a joint drive with the Navy and the Department of Fisheries, seized illegal fishing nets worth approximately Tk 312 crore in Karnaphuli this morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team conducted a drive at around 6:00 am at the Sea Heart Factory in the Dangarchar area.

During the drive, a total of 32.5 lakh meters of banned nets were seized, although the traders managed to flee the scene.

Later, the seized nets were destroyed in the presence of the Karnaphuli Upazila Fisheries Officer, officials said.
