DINAJPUR, April 23, 2026 (BSS) - A fresh consignment of 7,000 tonnes of diesel has arrived at the Parbatipur Railhead Oil Depot in Dinajpur through the Bangladesh-India Friendship Pipeline, marking the third such delivery this month.
Kazi Rabiul Alam, Manager (Operations) of Meghna Petroleum Limited at the Parbatipur depot, confirmed the development to BSS around 11.30 am today.
According to depot sources, the diesel reached the terminal earlier in the morning after being pumped from India.
The shipment originated from the Numaligarh Refinery in India's Siliguri, where pumping began at 8.00 pm on April 20. The fuel took approximately 65 to 70 hours to reach the Parbatipur depot via the cross-border pipeline.
Earlier this month, two additional consignments-8,000 tonnes on April 11 and 5,000 metric on April 19-were delivered through the same route. With the latest arrival, a total of 20,000 tonnes of diesel has been received in April alone, bringing the cumulative volume imported this year to 42,000 tonnes.
Officials indicated that around 25,000 tonnes of diesel are expected to arrive in four consignments during April. Prior to this, 22,000 tonnes had already been imported in four phases between January and March.
The diesel received at Parbatipur is distributed among three state-owned oil companies-Padma, Meghna, and Jamuna-for onward supply across the northern region.
