Road accident kills 4, injures 9 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, May 9, 2026 (BSS)- Four people were killed and nine others 
injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Chunati area under 
Lohagara upazila of the district today.

The accident occurred around 11:15 am near Four Seasons Restaurant on the 
Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway.

One of the deceased was identified as Rehena Begum, 60, wife of Badiul Alam 
from the Pachuria area in Patiya upazila of the district. The identities of 
the other three victims are yet to be confirmed.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station Mohammad Abdullah stated 
that the injured are receiving treatment, with some in critical condition.

Police and local sources reported that multiple passengers were critically 
injured in a head-on collision between the two buses traveling in opposite 
directions. Unfortunately, several individuals lost their lives during rescue 
efforts and while being transported to the hospital.
 
The injured individuals were initially taken to the Lohagara Upazila Health 
Complex, and those in critical condition were later transferred to Chittagong 
Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

Firoz Khan of Lohagara Fire Station stated, "Upon receiving information about 
the accident, we recovered a body from the scene and rescued six critically 
injured passengers who were later taken to the hospital."

Police and fire service personnel worked together to conduct rescue 
operations at the accident site and traffic on the highway resumed normal 
flow after the operations were completed.
