Notun Kuri Sports: Rajshahi champions in both Kabaddi divisions

RAJSHAHI, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - The closing ceremony and prize distribution of the regional-level 'Notun Kuri Sports' competition was held today in Rajshahi.

Rajshahi district became champions in both the boys' and girls' divisions of kabaddi.

Prizes were handed over this afternoon at the Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium in the city. Divisional Commissioner Dr A N M Bazlur Rashid presided over the event.

The competition was jointly organised by the Divisional Administration and the District Sports Office.

A festive atmosphere prevailed at the stadium from the afternoon during the closing ceremony. Child and adolescent competitors from various districts and upazilas lined up on the field in their designated uniforms.

A large number of parents, teachers and visitors filled the gallery. The stadium was decorated with national flags, banners and colourful displays.

At the event, the Divisional Commissioner said sports teach discipline, leadership and human values to the younger generation.

He said there is no alternative to sports for building a healthy and talented generation. He urged children and adolescents to continue regular sports alongside studies and moral education.

Special guests at the event included Abu Sayeed Chand, MP, Professor Nazrul Islam Mondol, MP, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, DIG of Rajshahi Range Mohammad Shahjahan, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Foyzul Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, Administrator of Zila Parishad Ershad Ali Esha, and Superintendent of Police Naimul Hassan.

Officials from various departments, sports organisers and distinguished guests were also present.
