Illegal tapentadol tablets worth Tk 3cr seized in Cumilla border

CUMILLA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized Indian illegal narcotic Tapentadol tablets worth approximately Taka 3 crore during a special drive along the Cumilla border.

Lieutenant Colonel SM Shariful Islam, Commander of the Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB), confirmed the seizure this afternoon.

According to BGB officials, intelligence surveillance and anti-smuggling activities have been intensified in the border areas under the directives of the Director General. 

Acting on specific intelligence, the Barajala Border Outpost (BOP) in Adarsh Sadar Upazila conducted a night operation on Wednesday, May 20.

During the drive, BGB recovered 123,800 pieces of Tapentadol tablets, with an estimated market value of Taka 30,095,000.

Lt Col SM Shariful Islam stated that BGB continues its operational and intelligence activities to prevent drug smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal border infiltration. He emphasized that along with securing the border, such operations would continue in the future to combat drug trafficking.
