Three farmers killed in Naogaon lightning strikes

NAOGAON, May 21, 2026 (BSS) – Three farmers were killed in separate lightning strikes while working in crop fields in Raninagar upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The first incident occurred around 11:00 am in Jatail area under Paril union of the upazila during sudden rain accompanied by lightning.

The deceased were identified as Akkas Fakir, 60, son of late Asad Fakir of Paril village and Tarek Mia, 22, son of Aminur Islam of the same village.

In another incident, Nayan Talukder, 32, son of Hasan Talukder of Guata Atnita village, was killed by lightning while working in a crop field in Guata Atnita area under Baragachha union of the upazila. 

Officer-in-Charge of Raninagar Police Station Zakaria Mandal confirmed the matters.
