DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - The renovated Masjidul Akbar Eidgah field, located beside Mirpur Zoo Road under the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), was officially inaugurated today following completion of renovation works.

The project, implemented at a cost of around Tk 1.28 crore, has transformed the field into a modern and citizen-friendly open space with improved facilities.

DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan attended the inauguration as chief guest.

The renovation work was carried out under the DNCC Environment, Climate and Disaster Management Circle.

As part of the upgrading, the Eidgah field has been equipped with an improved drainage system, a 260-metre walking track, security fencing, street lighting, multiple entry gates and waste management facilities.

Officials said the upgraded facility can accommodate around 7,000 worshippers at a time for Eid congregations. It has also been arranged to facilitate namaz-e-janaza when required.

Members of Parliament Sanjida Islam Tuli and Ferdousi Ahmed Misti were present at the programme.

DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Rakibul Hasan, regional executive officers, officials from the environment and disaster management circle, local representatives, political leaders, religious scholars and local dignitaries also attended the event.
