Bicyclist killed in Bogura road accident

BOGURA, May 31, 2026 (BSS) - A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a bus on the western side of the Mirzapur Flyover on Dhaka–Bogura highway in Sherpur upazila of the district at around 2:00 pm today.

The deceased, Alhaj Ali, 23, was the son of Alauddin from Lauta village in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district. He worked as an employee at a shop in Mirzapur Bazar, Sherpur, police sources said.

Police said, Ali was riding his bicycle toward home for lunch from the shop. At around 2:00 pm, when he reached the highway near the Mirzapur Flyover, a speeding Dhaka-bound bus named Upama Paribahan struck his bicycle from behind leaving him dead on the spot.

Being informed, members of the Sherpur Highway Police Outpost recovered the body.

Legal proceedings regarding the incident are currently underway, he said.
