FENI, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - A pickup driver was killed in a road accident on 
the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Fazilpur Sabujbagh near the district town on 
Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kausar, 40, son of Md. Joynal Abedin of 
Daulatpur union under Bangra Police Station in Cumilla district.

According to Fazilpur Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Rashed Khan Chowdhury, 
a covered van collided with a Dhaka-bound pickup van at Sabujbagh on the 
highway in the morning. The impact of the collision caused both vehicles to 
plunge into a roadside pond.

Local residents rushed to the scene and rescued Kausar in critical condition 
before taking him to Feni General Hospital. However, doctors declared him 
dead upon arrival.

Sub-Inspector Shahidul Islam said that both the pickup and the covered van 
were later recovered from the pond using wreckers.

Police said the body will be handed over to the victim's family after the 
completion of an autopsy. Further legal proceedings are underway.
