Two establishments fined Tk 1 lakh in Boalkhali

CHATTOGRAM, June 7, 2026 (BSS) - The upazila administration fined two 
commercial entities Taka 1 lakh in Boalkhali upazila for manufacturing and 
selling food products without obtaining the required licence from the 
Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).

The drive was conducted today by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mehedi Hasan 
Faruk and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kaniz Fatema.

The UNO said that during the drive, 'Shah Majidiya Bakery' and 'Fatema 
Sweets' were fined a total of Taka 1 lakh under the BSTI Act, 2018, for 
producing and selling expired and unhygienic food products and for operating 
without a BSTI licence.

He also said that such enforcement drives would continue to ensure food 
safety and protect consumers' health.
