RAJSHAHI, June 7, 2026 (BSS)- A discussion was held between the Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) and the General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (Western Region) focusing on ensuring the safe return of passengers travelling by rail at night in Rajshahi city.

During the meeting, it was noted that the RMP has taken an initiative to facilitate safe movement of passengers arriving at and departing from Rajshahi, particularly at night. Under this plan, police personnel will assist passengers so they can safely reach their destinations after getting off trains or buses.

To implement the initiative, the RMP proposed the allocation of a designated space, including a room, near the Rajshahi Railway Station where passengers can easily access police assistance during nighttime hours. The proposal was placed before the railway authorities for necessary cooperation.

RMP Commissioner Faizul Kabir personally met the General Manager of Bangladesh Railway (Western Region) in the afternoon and sought support for the initiative aimed at enhancing passenger safety.

The meeting also discussed broader issues related to security at the Rajshahi Railway Station, including strengthening surveillance, maintaining a safe environment for passengers, and improving coordination between police and railway authorities.

Among others, RMP spokesperson and Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime and CTTC) Md. Gaziur Rahman and senior officials of Bangladesh Railway (Western Region) were present at the meeting.
