2 manufacturers fined Tk 1.20 lakh in Madaripur for food safety violations

MADARIPUR, July 26, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court here has fined two food manufacturing establishments a total of Taka 1,20,000 for producing food in unhygienic conditions, using substandard ingredients and violating food safety regulations.

The drive was conducted today by the district administration in collaboration with the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) under the Food Safety Act, 2013.

During the operation, officials inspected Rajdhani Bakery, located in the Old BSCIC industrial area of the district town. Inspectors found that bakery products were being manufactured in an unhygienic environment. 

They also identified multiple violations, including the use of low-quality food additives, storage of rotten eggs, poor sanitation, lack of health certificates for food workers, inadequate pest control measures, failure to obtain mandatory product registration, absence of required certification for colored paper and flavoring used in cake production, storage of food items directly on the floor, use of unlabeled chemicals without receipts, and failure to produce purchase and sales invoices for raw materials.

After the bakery admitted to the violations, the mobile court imposed a Taka 100,000 fine under the Food Safety Act, 2013, which was collected on the spot. Authorities also instructed the establishment to comply with food safety standards and refrain from similar violations in the future.
In the same operation, Talha Food Products was fined Taka 20,000 under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 for various irregularities. 

The mobile court was led by Executive Magistrate Md. Millat Hossain of the Deputy Commissioner's Office. Rafiqul Islam, Food Safety Officer of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority in Madaripur, along with a team of Ansar personnel, also participated in the enforcement drive.
