TANGAIL, June 8, 2026 (BSS) - A housewife was killed after being run over by a train in Kalihati upazila of the district on this morning.

The deceased was identified as Mukta Akhter, 30, wife of Sujan Mia of Mirhamjani area in the upazila.

The accident occurred around 10:00 am in Salla area when she was crossing an unprotected railway crossing, local sources said. At that time, she was struck by the fast-moving Nilsagar Express Train and died on the spot.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Enamul Haque of Gharinda Railway Police Station confirmed the matter and said legal procedures in connection with the incident are underway.
