356,233 children to receive Vitamin A capsules in Habiganj

HABIGANJ, June 21, 2026 (BSS) - A district-level press briefing was held in Habiganj to ensure the successful implementation of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2026.

The briefing took place on Sunday at 3:00 pm in the conference room of the Habiganj Civil Surgeon's Office and was chaired by Civil Surgeon Dr. Ratnadeep Biswas.

Among those who addressed the event were Editor of Dainik Samachar Golam Mostafa Rafik, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Mukhlesur Rahman Ujjal, senior journalists Mansur Uddin Ahmed Iqbal, Ruhul Hasan Sharif, Chowdhury Mohammad Foriad, Syed Eklachur Rahman Khokon, Ashraful Islam Kohinur and others.

Speakers at the briefing informed that under the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign, a target has been set to administer Vitamin A capsules to a total of 356,233 children across the district. This includes 42,069 children aged between 6 and 11 months and 314,164 children aged between 12 and 59 months.

To implement the campaign, services will be provided through 1,931 vaccination centers and 11 permanent centers across the district. A total of 352 supervisors and 3,861 volunteers will be engaged in carrying out the programme.

The speakers highlighted the importance of Vitamin A supplementation in strengthening children's immunity, reducing the risk of malnutrition, and lowering child mortality rates. They urged parents and guardians to bring their children to the designated centers to ensure the campaign's success.

The programme was organized by the Habiganj Civil Surgeon's Office and is being implemented with the support of the National Nutrition Services, the Institute of Public Health Nutrition, the Directorate General of Health Services and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
