‘Local needs based policy crucial for poverty free Bangladesh’

KHULNA, June 22, 2026 (BSS) – Speakers at a workshop today underscored the importance of localizing the SDGs and ensuring their effective implementation at the grassroots level.

They said local  community needs  base policy is crucial for building a hunger and poverty-free Bangladesh and achieving sustainable development targets.

They made the remarks at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Planning Workshop, held in Dumuria upazila of the district to formulate local-level strategies for achieving the SDGs by 2030.

The workshop focused on incorporating the 17 global SDGs into local development plans, enhancing stakeholder  participation and strengthening coordination between the local administration and development partners.

Dumuria Upazila Administration organized the workshop with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and The Hunger Project at the UpazilaParishad auditorium.

Dumuria UNO SabitaSarkar chaired the programme. Additional Divisional Commissioner Abu Sayed MdMonjur Alam attended the workshop as the chief guest, while UNDP Adviser Abdul Barik, Deputy Director of Local Government in Khulna MdAriful Islam and Anwarul Islam were present as special guests.
