Meeting held to ensure children's safety in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 22, 2026 (BSS) - A discussion meeting was held with the members of the Child Protection Committee, organized by the "Alokito Shishu Project" of Caritas Rajshahi Region at its regional office conference hall here today.
 
The chief guest at the meeting was Lee McQueen, consultant of the Alokito Shishu Project, and it was presided over by Dr. Arok Toppo, regional director of Caritas Rajshahi Region.
 
Kusum Gregory, programme officer from Caritas Central Office, Dhaka, Rancy Ruth Hansda, programme officer, Foridul Islam, junior programme officer and field-level officials of the project were also present. 
 
Ten members of the Child Protection Committee (5 men and 5 women) actively participated in the meeting.
 
The meeting included detailed discussions on the responsibilities and duties of the Child Protection Committee, the committee's achievements, capacity building, future plans, and how the committee's activities can be sustained even after the completion of the project.
 
During the discussion, Consultant Lee McQueen said, "I am extremely pleased to see your work. The role you are playing in protecting street children and at-risk children through voluntary service is truly commendable."
 
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Arok Toppo, Regional Director of Caritas Rajshahi Region, thanked all the guests, Child Protection Committee members, and project staff for their active participation.
 
He urged the committee members to continue working in the same manner in the future to ensure children's safety and rights.
