KHULNA, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 1,17,177 students, including 60,189 female examinees, will appear in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jashore.

The examinations are scheduled to begin on July 2, simultaneously with other education boards across the country, Controller of Examinations Professor Dr Abdul Matin said on Sunday in a press briefing.

Last year, 1,16,317 students, including 58,472 female examinees, appeared in the HSC examinations under the board.

This year, candidates from 570 colleges will sit for the examinations at 240 centres across the 10 districts under the Jashore Education Board.

Of the total examinees, 22,723 are from the science group, 81,960 from the humanities group and 12,494 from the business studies group.

Among them, 80,365 are regular candidates, 35,853 irregular candidates, 927 improvement candidates and 42 private candidates. Of the irregular candidates, 4,733 will appear in all subjects.

Prof Matin said all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examinations. A regular vigilance team comprising college teachers will supervise the examination centres, while several rapid vigilance teams consisting of board officials and teachers have also been formed to monitor the examinations closely.

He said strict disciplinary action would be taken against anyone found involved in irregularities or negligence during the examinations.

Section 144 will remain in force around all examination centres to ensure a peaceful environment, and legal action will be taken against violators, he added.

Replying to a question, Prof Matin said the board had received around 60 to 70 applications from physically challenged students seeking permission to use amanuenses or stenographers.

"The applications will be decided today or tomorrow," he said.

He also said a meeting had already been held with examination secretaries to ensure the HSC examinations are conducted in a fair and peaceful manner.
