KDA chairman initiates emergency repairs on Shipyard Road to ease suffering

KHULNA July 13, 2026 (BSS) – Khulna Development Authority (KDA) Chairman Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona today said the BNP-led government is committed to building a modern, beautiful and traffic congestion-free Khulna.

Speaking while supervising emergency repair work on the dilapidated Shipyard Road in Khulna city, he said the road is one of the region's most important transport corridors, playing a vital role in communication and economic activities.

He said commuters, transport operators and businesses have long been suffering due to the poor condition of the road.

“To provide immediate relief to the public, we have launched emergency repair work with our own initiative and funding. Our immediate objective is to make the road motorable until the permanent carpeting work is completed," he said.

He also urged residents to maintain confidence in Prime Minister Tarek Rahman's leadership, saying the government would fulfill the people's expectations through continued development initiatives.

Among others, Bangladesh Cricket Board Director and Khulna City BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, KDA Chief Engineer Kazi Sabirul Alam, Dumuria Upazila Brick Kiln Owners' Association President Md. Shahjahan Jomaddar, political leaders and a large number of local residents were present.
