KHULNA, July 13, 2026 (BSS) – Police today recovered the skeletal remains of an easy bike-rickshaw driver who had been missing for nearly five months from a house in Khulna's Harintana area and detained a husband and wife in connection with the alleged murder.
The detained couple was identified as Murad Molla and his wife Falguni Khatun.
Police exhumed the skeleton from the yard of a house in the Bulu Well Residential Area adjacent to the Harintana railway bridge at around noon after receiving information from the suspects.
According to police and local residents, Falguni Khatun filed a complaint against her husband at Harintana Police Station this morning following a domestic dispute.
During questioning, she allegedly told police that Murad had killed an easy bike-rickshaw driver named Maruf and stolen his vehicle.
She further alleged that after the killing, the couple dismantled the rickshaw and sold it in parts.
Acting on the information, police detained Murad and conducted a search at the house.
The skeletal remains, believed to be those of Maruf, were recovered from the spot indicated by the couple and sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for forensic examination.
Harintana Police Station Investigation Officer Murad Hossain Milon said Maruf was known to the accused.
During the last Ramadan, he was allegedly called to Murad’s house at night, where he was strangled with a rope while sitting inside the rickshaw. His body was then buried in the yard, he said.
According to preliminary investigation, the rickshaw is registered to Molla Md. Mostafa of Mujgunni Main Road under Khalishpur Police Station.
The detained couple is being interrogated, and further legal action is underway, the officer added.
