
RAJSHAHI, July 26, 2026 (BSS) - As part of the government-announced program to plant 25 crore trees in 5 years to conserve the environment, increase greening and combat the adverse effects of climate change, a tree sapling distribution program was held on the initiative of Rajshahi College Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD).
The program was held on the Rajshahi College premises today.
Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation Mahfuzur Rahman Riton was present as the chief guest at the program and distributed saplings of various species among the students.
Rajshahi Mahanagar BNP President Mamun-or-Rashid was present as the inaugurator at the event.
At that time, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said that, as part of the implementation of the 25 crore tree plantation program in 5 years announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, tree plantation activities are ongoing in Rajshahi metropolis with a target of 2 lakh 50 thousand.
Along with the City Corporation, various educational institutions, organizations and agencies have also come forward. Tree plantation activities are continuing in phases.
He further said the Prime Minister has already started implementing his election pledges. Distribution of Family Cards and Farmer Cards has started.
The program of providing honorarium allowance to Imams and Muezzins will start soon.
In the program, the RCC Administrator emphasized the care of trees along with tree plantation.
Present at the program were Rajshahi College Principal Professor Ibrahim Ali, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physics Barik Mridha, Rajshahi Mahanagar JCD Member-Secretary Emdadul Haque Limon, and Senior Joint Convener Khaled Bin Walid Abir.
The program was presided over by Rajshahi College JCD President Aminul Islam.
It was conducted by Rajshahi College JCD General Secretary Rashikuzzaman Pritam. Leaders and activists of Rajshahi College JCD, students and local dignitaries were present at the program.
