DHAKA, Aug 29, 2025 (BSS) - BanglaFact, the fact-checking and media research unit of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), has debunked a viral video circulating online that falsely claims to show a recent looting incident at Maha Shopping Mall on Naya Sarak in Sylhet.

According to BanglaFact, the footage being shared is not recent and was originally published in August 2024, thereby misleading viewers about the timing of the event.

BanglaFact's investigation team conducted a reverse image search on still frames from the viral clip, confirming that the same video was first uploaded on August 5, 2024, by a Facebook user named Shakib Ahmed.
