Historic May Day observed in Narail

NARAIL, May 1, 2026 (BSS) - Historic May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day-2026 were observed in Narail today under the theme "Healthy Workers, Productive Hands, A New Dawn Awaits".

Marking the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from the Deputy Commissioner's office premises in the morning. It marched through important city roads and concluded at the District Shilpakala Academy.

District Council Chief Executive Officer Md. Asaduzzaman, Deputy Director of Local Government at the Deputy Commissioner's Office Julia Sukaina, Additional Superintendent of Police Noor-e Alam Siddiqui, Narail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer T.M. Rahsin Kabir, along with government officials, freedom fighters, workers, employers, trade union leaders, and people from different walks of life joined the rally.

Following the rally, a discussion meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room, organized by the district administration.

Speakers at the discussion highlighted the sacrifices of workers and emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe, fair, and equitable working environment. They said May Day remains a significant milestone in the global struggle for workers' rights.

They also noted that workers are the backbone of economic growth and industrial productivity, adding that ensuring their rights and dignity is a shared responsibility of all.
