Hong Kong celebrates ‘Youth Festival 2025’ with great enthusiasm

DHAKA, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Consulate General of Bangladesh, Hong Kong, has celebrated a two-day 'Youth Festival 2025' with great enthusiasm and colorful arrangements.

As part of the occasion, a badminton tournament was organized at the local 'Chai One Sports Center' where some 32 young participants took part on January 25, said a release of Consulate General of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Hong Kong this evening.

Later, the festival’s main event was held at the 'Quarryside Dockyard Theater' in Hong Kong on January 26, it said.

Diplomats and honorary consuls from various countries, Hong Kong locals and influential businessmen, members of the Bangladeshi community and a large number of Bangladeshi students were present there.

Speaking on the occasion of the ‘Youth Festival 2025’, Consul General Israt Ara recalled the sacrifice of the martyrs who had made the supreme sacrifices in the recent anti-discrimination student uprising in Bangladesh and outlined the background of the ‘New Bangladesh’ concept.

She urged everyone to unite for building a ‘New Bangladesh’ with the slogan “Come to change the country, change the world, and the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and the ‘Youth Festival’ in Bangladesh with a sense of responsibility towards society and the environment as well.

The consul general inspired a large number of Bangladeshi students present at the event to showcase the history, heritage, art and culture of Bangladesh in Hong Kong.
