Six-a-side cricket tournament inaugurated in Naogaon

NAOGAON, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) -A six-a-side cricket tournament has been inaugurated at district stadium in Naogaon, marking the Festival of Youth 2025.  

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal formally inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest. The district administration has organized the tournament with the overall support of the district sports organization.

A total of fifteen teams including eleven upazila teams of the district, one municipality, officers club and three local clubs are taking part in the tournament.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal said Bangladesh has a lot of pride in cricket. Many countries of the world recognize Bangladesh through cricket. We want new horizons to be opened in cricket in Naogaon as well. This tournament is organized so that emerging young players can showcase themselves through the Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament.

He also said that various tournaments are being organized continuously. During this time, the youth have turned to the playground, which is a very good thing. Sports can prevent the youth from doing bad things.   

Naogaon Municipal Administrator TMA Momin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Sadia Afrin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (education and ICT) Jannat Ara Tithi, Sadar Upazila executive officer Ibnul Abedin, Raninagar Upazila executive officer Rakibul Hasan, district sports officer Arifuzzaman, District Sports Association (DSA) member Abul Kalam Azad and DSA member and former footballer Enamul Haque, were among others, present on the occasion.
